As per the Central Electricity Authority, the installed generating capacity of captive power plants (CPPs) stood at 78 GW across industries. The increase is at a CAGR of 8.9% between March 2012 and March 2020. Post Covid the same is only to increase.
45% of this is from plants with 100 MW & above generation and with regards to the end-use industry, metals and minerals account for maximum share (~40%) of tracked captive capacity. This being also one of the most price sensitive industry.
